In the case of Ubom v. Globacom Nig. Ltd, 2025 6 NWLR Part 1985, it was held that the copyright in a photograph belongs to the photographer not the person being photographed.

Why?

This is because the photographer in taking and producing a photograph uses and brings his own creativity to the final product.

However, if there is an agreement to the contrary, the copyright will vest in the photographed person.
